Iceland Day 4 - Day 7: Planning for our road trip!

Day 4 | 11th July
Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach

Hiii! I'm almost halfway to being done! Okay by now I guess you can kinda figure out what I am soo excited to share about. We went on a road trip on the South of Iceland! But for that, I'll leave it for a separate post. These 4 days that you'll see are slightly low key and might be a little boring for you but these were our intensive planning days for our road trip.

Okay, so a day after our Golden Circle Tour, we wanted to do something chill. Just a little side story, our host, Embla, went off to Barcelona on our 2nd day there. Meanwhile she had her friend Sarah and Sarah's daughter, Kikki staying with us and also taking care of Embla's dog, Mafia (whom we mostly called Frankie lol).

So Sarah recommended us to visit the Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach which is really nearby a University. Once again, if you'd like to visit the beach, you could take the Stræto bus 19 to Nautholsvik - HR which is the last stop. I'd suggest taking the bus from the bus interchange in the City called Hlemmur.

Of course we didn't take any photos at the beach but decided to take photos with flowers. but it's pretty though!
Okay in all honesty, we were pretty disappointed at this place. So deep in our disappointment that we forgot to take any pictures of the beach itself. But feel free to check out the reviews from Tripadvisor. The beach itself consisted of a small circular bathtub that is heated. We asked some people in the tub on how warm it is. They told us it was just slightly warmer than the beach water. Also up the beach, there's a rectangular geothermal pool with facilities available though of course chargeable. The pool however seemed a little cramped with people. In the end we were so disappointed, we didn't even swim.

All in all, for something geothermal & free, I guess it wouldn't have been too bad. Everything's free except for the facilities. Though I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place to everyone unless you have time to spare as the location is pretty 'ulu' I would say.

In the end we went back to town, got some noodles from The Noodle Station and went around tourist counters to enquire on our road trip.

Got myself a bowl of beef noodles! It was alright. It was around SGD 12.
Then afterwards we decided to settle down at our favourite cafe at Old Harbour to plan for our trip.
Got myself a Wild English Elderflower soda! It is reallyyy nicee! A truly refreshing drink indeed
some crazy planning
oh look at our faces after all that planning

Day 5 | 12th July
Planning at Te & Kaffi

Another day of planning and asking around tourist centers. Went for some groceries shopping and settled down at Te & Kaffi to rest.

If you know me, I'm usually the coffee kinda gal, but I somehow magically decided to try Hot Chocolate & I love it soo! It just tastes beautiful. Especially the outlet in the bookstore of the 3rd level. Te & Kaffi is basically their Starbucks guyss.

Day 6 | 13th July
Horse Lava Tour

We booked this tour a couple days back with Ishestar Riding Tour. I'll list the details at the end of this post. It was slightly raining so that was a bummer. But it was alright since we got to wear these fashionable coats and boots. hahahh we totez were werkin them clothes. hah, I kid.

*inserts laugh cry emojiss*
The only photo we got together.
To be honest, I kinda expected more out of this horse ride. As the tour name suggests 'Lava tour', I was kinda hoping to see some legit molten lava. After the ride I was like "Where dem lavas at??!"  I thought about it, then realised maybe we were seeing the hard rock solid lavas. I was also hoping to enter some caves or something. but nope.
Okay a few things I did not really like about the tour:
  1. Like I said, no lavas.
  2. We were separated throughout the entire tour. She was all the way at the front, while I was the last one
  3. Only had like 30 secs of galloping. Other than that, the horsies were all just walking ( I had a lazy & super huge horse)
  4. Nice landscapes but not justifiable for the price we paid which was 10,900 Kr = SGD 117.61
I don't necessarily recommend this but I mean you could just give it a go if you'd like. The only perks of this tour was the efficient pick up & drop off. We got dropped off right at our Airbnb doorstep! Oh & we also got a Diploma Certificate for that. hayy guyss, I am a certified horse riderrr

After our horse ride we pretty much just stayed in. I stayed up abit for some slight planning. I was honestly kinda nervous about it. I had to type everything out so that it's a little more of a concrete plan.

Day 7 | 14th July
Final Touches

Woke up at 10am that day. It was a rather chill morning. Probably our longest morning staying in. Had our breakfast and talked to Sarah for abit for some help on car rentals. We only finally went out at 2pm to head down to town to book for Car rental and our Glacier tour along the south.
That night, I'm not gonna lie it was kinda nerve wrecking for me and for us. Our very first roadtrip. & I was driving. After not driving for 2 years. But glad to say it now that I am back in one piece.

So throughout day 1 all the way to Day 7, I spent 76,549.88 Kr = SGD 573.11 excluding flights and accommodation. Yes, I did write down how much I spent everyday so that I wouldn't go broke during the road trip. I honestly think this is not too bad as all the tours and car rentals and food are included. Do note that we mostly eat bread and peanut butter & nutella every day for every meal. And rarely eat out. I even bought a pair of Timberland shoes.

& that's the end of our planning! I am soo excited to share my roadtrip adventures up next! There is soo much to share! I'll probably update sometime next week.

Have a great weekend y'all!
