Iceland Day 3 x Golden Circle Tour!

Day 3 | 10th July
The Golden Circle Tour

Hey guys, so I thought I should continue updating on my Iceland trip before I hit another plateau (again...oops sorry!) Okay, So on our second day after the blue lagoon swim we dropped by town, went into various tourist information counters to decide on what to do next. After scouring for quite abit, we decided to do The Golden Circle Tour. It basically covers the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland and I personally think it's a MUST to go onto one of these tours when you're in Iceland. We settled for YourDayTours which I will list the details at the end of this post.

For most tours, they'd pick you up if you're staying in guesthouses or hotels. But if you're like us & got an airbnb apartment that's a little too far, I'd suggest just making the pick up/drop off point at the BSI Terminal or in the city. If you're taking the Stræto, you could stop at MR, Harpa or Hlemmur. Though the very heart of the city would be at MR.

1. Faxi Waterfall

First stop on our golden circle tour was the Faxi Waterfall. This was no doubt really pretty but it is like the base of a cake. Pretty & good but wait till you see what's next!

 Scenery closeby the area

One of the few times that I wore proper makeup there lol. For most of the days I didn't wear any cause there was no time & you'd understand why in the posts to come.

Met some crazy horsiess along the road! This black one couldn't get the spot to scratch..

2. Gulfoss Waterfall

This is HANDS DOWN, the best waterfall I have seen in Iceland! It is amazing and really breathtaking. When you're in a place so pretty, sometimes you kinda forget to breathe. & I mean really breathe in the fresh air! I highly recommend this place! Once you've seen this waterfall, the other waterwalls you see along the south might seem like a minor-league.

Hold your breath while I present to you some of the most majestic & breathtaking photos.

 That's me partially freezing.

Even the stairway up looks soo prettyyy

3. Geysir (Strokkur)

Next up is another one of my favourites, the Geysirs! I have never seen anything like it, not mention even hearing about it's existence till then. For a Singaporean like me, this is definitely something we will never see here. The Geysir erupts every 8 minutes. 8 minutes have never felt soo long, oh the anticipation! It was indeed really spectacular.

 At it's normal state

Once the center starts to sink in, you know it's time for mama Strokkur to erupt!

And the anticipation for another 8 minutes.

4. Pingvellir National Park

Our final stop for the tour which was the national park. Was comparing to Punggol Park, then I laughed at myself at the silly comparison. This is every Singaporean's paradise. Heck, we'd even camp and BBQ here and make it into a chalet!

Irrelevant fact: We were both sleeping away in the tour bus. The guide promised to leave us with the calm & lovely Icelandic music, but nooo she kept interrupting with facts about the landscapes which would've been really interesting if we were awake lol. When we arrived at our destination we were pretty beat up from all the walking & we almost didn't want to get out. That's how lazy we were lol. But glad we didn't give in to our inner bean bags,

Strange fact that I read on the board. They used to drown people there as punishment.

 We were from the bottom
I don't know why my face was like this. Must be from the walk up lol. It was kinda like a mini hike really.
There's a story about these rocks and about why they were separated but I can't remember

& we finally reached the end of our little tour. We were so tired that we sat like this like literally to lean on something. Then someone came over & exclaimed about 'I can't help but notice that you guys are in a really perfect position for a beautiful photo. Could I help you take a photo?'  And we were  like suree!
And a second person came and told us the same thing & took our photo. hahaha thanks strangers for the very lovely photo! #onlyinIceland

So that's about it for our Golden Circle Tour & a wrap for our Day 3!
Will be back with more!
