Hey everyonee! It's been 4 months since I last updated. I've been soo busy, tired and straight up plain lazy to sit in my chair and do some updating. But I finally am. I figured since I started my blog at eighteen, I can't possibly just stop now right? Gotta keep going cause I do enjoy looking back at all my past posts.
Remember at the end of 2013, I went to Turkey? I still have yet to update till the end. Yup, 1.5 years later here I am updating. It's almost like a rude update from such a long time ago. I am such a horrible blogger but here goes nothing.
11TH DECEMBER 2013// WEDNESDAY
{DAY 4}
CAPPADOCIA
{DAY 4}
CAPPADOCIA
Continuing from my last turkey post which you can click here , we departed from our last hotel which was the Lycus River Hotel.
1. Melvana Celaleddin-i Rumi
Along the way we managed to visit a museum of the 13th Century. The museum was named after a Philosopher during those early times. In the museum itself there were different entrances leading up to different kinds of artefacts like Jewellry, clothes and even the tombstones of some of the many important people in Turkey during the ancient times.
Unfortunately no photography was allowed inside. I'll just leave it up to your creative imaginations.
We then had a stopover at some place, I have no clue lol.
The turkey basics. Salad, Soup + Bread, Mackerel fish, small portion of rice and some vegetables.
And then we continued our travels to Cappadocia and finally, we got to our hotel.
Dinler Urgup Hotel (5 Stars, Cappadocia)
12TH DECEMBER 2013 // THURSDAY
{DAY 5}
{DAY 5}
2. Esentepe Hill
The start to our Cappadocia journey we stopped by this hill overlooking Cappadocia. They even had the binocular things though of course you had to pay. Mostly it was covered in snow and a lot of whiteness going on.
3. Underground City Of Kaymakli
This place was soo cool. Check out my vlog here where I did a walkthrough of the caves. The caves were basically a place for Christian refugees back in those days I suppose.
Random opinion input here: If you read The Host, this place would be how I exactly imagined the refuge place to be!
They had a lot of tunnels you could go through, so many links to everywhere.
oh & it was kinda warm in there, I was almost sweating.
Got out the caves and into the cold once again! And took the opportunity to play with snow for awhile.
Me trying to eat a snowflake.
Isn't the store above so cool & rustic?
4. Pigeon Valley
Like literally as the name suggests, the place is located on a hill where there's a lot of pigeons.
& of course when I came in a lot of the pigeons flew away...
The cool part about this hill is that it overlooks the Uchisar "Castle" Village. Though you won't see it here much cause I didn't pay attention thus, I didn't know.
Here's a well-known tree where they hang a commonly seen symbol all over Turkey. It is called the Evil Eye.
5. Goreme Open-Air Museum
This place for me was one of the most coldest walks everrr. My feet were so cold, it was kinda numb. Though I'd have to say, it was indeed pretty cool to see museums in tiny little caves.
Cause I told them to do show a bigger smile.
There was also a small street area where they sold souvenirs.
6. Avanos Pottery Village
After the chilly walk, we retreated to an indoor location and visited the Pottery shop.
Well, but first...we went to the toilet.
I swear this man looks like Albert Einstein!
Confession: I used to wanted to join a pottery cca in primary school. I then realised it was poetry.
soo yup.
Okay next we went to this super place to have our lunch. It was in a local cave house.
We were all seated in a circle/semi-circle, so that was cool.
7. Valley of Fairy Chimneys
After lunch, we dropped by this place with awesome rock formations resembling giant mushrooms. Well at least to me.
look who dattt
We finally got to our hotel!
Freshened up and all ready for dinner at the hotel followed by a bellydance and folklore dance at some cave somewhere. Pardon the low quality photos. I believe I was lazy to carry a bag to hold my dslr.
This is the popular turkish dance that Turkey is commonly known for. These guys will be donned in these outfits and will basically spin non-stop.
There was also a bunch of other traditional acts.
& that's the end of that day.
Phew. Now that I have to recount everything again, I realized we did do a lot of stuff.
I'm now missing Turkey. I'm lucky to say that I've been to many places that not many people have had the chance to. But out of all the places I've been to, this was by far my favourite country to visit & travel. I highly recommend everyone to visit this beautiful and exotic country.
I'd go again if I could.
