My first tarian production ever!

GENTARASA 2013

I wouldn't say that I'm a dance person, but I've always liked dance in some way. Maybe more on the fun side like mass dance & random dances with my friends. I never even knew that I would be part of this production.

Here's what happened.

Before anything happened, I just knew I bought tickets to watch elsa perform. Going back to June 19th. Elsa was asking for people to join her group cause there weren't enough people for the final dance, on our personal whatsapp group. Since the other two rejected, I decided to think on my own. I was still thinking when I was at work the next day. Then I decided, ah heck it, I'm gonna join this! So I went to my first practice on that day itself after work.

The first day, I was so so lost. With no prior tarian skills or whatsoever, my movements were all over the place. The first couple of days were really stressful for me cause the entire group knew the whole choreography & there I was, midway trying to catch up. For one of the combined rehearsals I screwed up so bad, it was so embarrassing. I just didn't know where to hide my face. But I persevered! I really did! I guess that bad experience motivated me to work harder. I woke up early to practice & even went to the airport to practice.

With the haze and all & trainings everyday, I was kinda drained. But before I knew it, I was applying my makeup for my first performance in years. I wouldn't say I was even close to ready but at least I was better than when I first started. I was only excited to perform! It gave me some sort of adrenaline rush. I'd do it again.

Here iz me being all happy! You should see me in my 'makcik' outfit with red lipstick. I looked like mulan inspired but more to china doll yes?

 This was on the preview day. Also my first time doing an intense smokey eye look. I'm usually more of a neutrals person. But this was really fun to create. I actually found the makeup & hair process kinda therapeutic.

 & we came out in the newspaper in Berita Harian! I'm the one on the far left with the head all out. lol

& THANK YOU ALL FOR COMINGG! Especially the cousins and mum on the preview day. It really means a lot to me that I had family members supporting me the first time I perform for this. Thank youuu :') 

& of course the friends for coming down too. & the mini birthday surprise gift!

In the process of trainings, rehearsals & drama, I learnt so many things. Lol politics everywhere.

But I also met some pretty talented & great people. So thankful for the experience!

I feel like I can't thank enough. But yeah, Thank you!
