☮ BANGKOK ☮

DAY 1

Started the day early. Got to the airport by 8am or so. Our flight was like at 11am. So we had plenty of time to roam around the airport transit which we rarely got a chance to.

Got to visit the cactus garden in terminal 1. Pretty place!
It felt like I wasn't in Singapore. until I started sweating...we ran back to the heavenly coolness of the airport.
At the Bangkok Airport! The flight only took 2 hours. I think it was lesser than that.

A couple of hours later we got to our hotel. The hotel we stayed at is called Grand Alphine. It's a 3 star hotel I think? But I thought the rooms were pretty decent. By then it was already 5 plus or so. Not much time to go anywhere. We took a rest in the hotel for awhile and then headed out to dinner nearby.

Food was really hard to find. Well Indian food is really easy to find. But when I am overseas, I always would want to have a taste of their traditional food which obviously is Thai food. I like thai food. The one thing I badly wanted to try was Phad Thai. So bummed out that there's no halal Phad Thai or even thai food.

There's this stall that we have to walk past everyday to go out or get back to the hotel & it sells phad thai. Imagine the torture for me everyday. My longing eyes for phad thai that I couldn't have.

anyway, got back home early cause we had city tour the next day. Also, I love the pink wall!
 In my PJs!

DAY 2

Woke up early. Got down for breakfast by 7am and went off by 7.30am with the tour guide. There were only 7 of us. First up, we went to check out the 4 faced buddha. We soon realised that you could find it all over Bangkok. Then we went to this temple which we would have to get there by boat cause its located just across.

It only took like 5 minutes or so

The place we were going is the temple right behind.
 here we are!

And then I noticed people, obviously foreigners like me, in thai costumes posing awkwardly and snapping pictures. I saw the price & it was only 100 baht which equals to approximately SGD4. And I was like....why not?

So here I was....I look so thai.
My posings all, really going for it. Some I even sat on the grass. The person didn't even bother to control me.
I think some of the foreigners thought I was part of the act. They took photos of me...
Abit twisted face here ahh. Though I wish I knew more thai poses.
 One of my decent shots!
 In a tuk tuk

After that we went to this mall called MBK (MahBoonKrong) It was okay. Then we went back to the hotel cause we had this cultural performance to watch at night together with a buffet dinner.

The Buffet dinner + 1 & half hour of performance for about 1000 baht per person which is about SGDG40.
A little pricey but still its a not bad deal for buffet.

This is the area before you actually enter into the main auditorium. Cameras were not allowed in the theater sooo no pictures.
I absolutely love the lanterns above. So pretty. & I would like to one day be part of the lantern floating festival. It's called Yi Peng, usually happens in Chiang Mai. Such a shame that I missed the Songkran festival which is the water festival. It would have been such a pleasant cultural experience for me.
Anyway, in the pre-entrance area there's also this themed village place. I like it. It is so traditional and nice.

We also got to take the mini boat ride which we realised was free. That was a nice experience. With all the pretty dim lights surrounding me.

Anyway, the performance was amazing! The effects and props were amazing. Out of nowhere there was a river on the stage and a guy jumped in. Imagine everyone's surprise when we all thought the stage was just a flat dry surface. Well, it was before. Really really cool stuff.

Afterwards, we walked around the Pratunam market which was actually nearby our hotel area.

This is the phad thai shop that I was talking about.

DAY 3

Went to a couple of malls. Shibuya19 & the Platinum mall.
I actually prefer Shibuya19 more cause of the lesser crowd and lesser choices. Shopping seemed less stressful for me there. Just my personal opinion cause I generally don't really like shopping. Platinum mall is just insane. Levels after levels of clothes and people. One level itself, I would say its almost like the size of a football field. Maybe smaller, but still it is huge for one level!
Right is platinum, left is shibuya19.
Also the shibuya19 follows the concept of the popular Shibuya mall in Tokyo itself. I remembered one of the levels was called Harajuku. How cute!

We ate at the Shibuya19 mall on the highest level. They served Mediterranean food. My mum & I shared the Saffron rice with lamb inside. Really nice. But still sad no thai food in thailand.

My parents have something against street food but I badly wanted to try one. Since no phad thai, crepes will do. The crepes in the mall, they do not cook the 'holder'. Its like all the yummy stuff rolled in like popiah skin. I was quite devastated when I received my saggy crepes in the mall. It does not even deserve to be called crepes.

So I was definitely quite pleased when I got my proper crispy crepes by the street.
It was like 60 baht = SGD2.40
I was quite happy to be standing along the streets buying something!

 I got my crispy crepes!
 see how happy I am

DAY 4

This was the day for last minute shoppings. Our flight was at 7pm or so and we spent the extra time shopping.

The hotel that we never got to stay at. This is at the Indra Reagent Hotel. We just borrowed the toilet for awhile. & then I decided to check on the pool.
I had to force my mum to laugh cause I think she always gives the confused smile which you can see in the picture below.

I like how this photo looks so legit Thailand.
Anyway, I think they have hands down the best milk tea ever. Usually the ones in the food court. They taste the same but really really good. Better than gong cha or koi.
The after last minute shopping face with my mum. so masai.
And finally at the airport. I was kinda glad to leave though I would miss the hotel aircon.

 Tired faces.
That's actually my passport casing. I bought it last year planning to give tiffany alvord. Like it was really a last minute thing cause I didn't want to come empty handed plus it's cheap. In the end, I didn't get to meet her that day. Sooo....now it's MINE! Should've chosen the other design though...

This marks the end of my Bangkok journey. To my friends going to Bangkok soon, have fun!

I am excited for graduation!!

Also, I was thinking on splurging on something expensive for myself with my own hard earned money.
Debating between a Michael Kors watch or a high quality digital camera. I'm aware that I could pretty much just ask my parents to get it for me, but I want to get something that would mark my personal hard work. If that makes sense.

sawadikap!
