Malaysia December Tour Part 1

Okay, so I've been meaning to update this for quite awhile now but I got confused with the uploading system on blogger...yabbadeeyaada...

Recently, in December, I went on a mini vacation with my family around Malaysia for 9 days. Brother didn't come along cause of work. By tour, I mean a couple of places.

KL » Colmar » Genting » Cameron

Picture quality may vary. It's either from my dslr or my trusty 5 month old Samsung phone.

22ND DECEMBER 2012

First up was KL! This took us 8 hours I think? Funny story, the driver dropped us all along the pavements by the KL road.

This roadtrip was pretty bearable. I spent most of the time sleeping.
Ed Sheeran's album was my best friend for the entire trip.

The hotel! We stayed at Furama Hotel.

We rested a little while and then went to the nearest mall there which was Berjaya Times Square.
We ate at SUBWAY! Yayyy! See the happy faces!
Seriously Subway, you should be halal here in Singapore. I would buy you everyday.
You'd think that with a big hotel room, I'd get to sleep luxuriously on the bed.
But no, look at where I sleep.
This is my makeshift bed. In layman term, a couch.
I seem pretty happy with it. Not until I woke up in the morning...
I remember watching the Night at the Museum 2 on one of the nights. It was like past midnight & I was laughing till I cried. The part where the ancient King meets the night guard. hahh
 night night

23RD DECEMBER 2012
Day 2 of KL
This is how I would typically dress up for the buffet breakfasts. Very nyonya thank you.
Went back to hotel, clean up and went back out.

Went to Petaling Street! For some reason, I lost the embarrassment of posing for a photo even when passer-byers were watching or staring. Usually I'd get annoyed and embarrassed if I had to stay in a pose for too long when the photographer takes a million years to snap a photo. Sigh. Why? It's just a button. Pet peeve alert.
Especially with my phone. It takes half a second to take a picture.
Putu Bambu! These were pretty darn gooddd!

Petaling street reminded me of Chinatown in Sg.
We didn't buy anything so we settled in Starbucks. I was quite devastated when I found out that KL/Malaysia does not serve White Chocolate drinks.

24TH DECEMBER 2012

Took the transports. They changed to chips. Last time I came, they used cards. This is cool, you have to tap this chip. & if it's your destination, you'd have to slot the chip into the chip slotter thing when you exit.
My mum kept calling me dang wangi or parrot throughout this trip...

We had dinner at Berjaya Times Square. Bought this book on impulse cause the dad wanted to buy a book. 2nd book half price. Thus this. I usually research a lot on the books I buy & read. I always made sure it was a series. This, I knew nothing at all. Grabbed it cause of the cover and the genre.
Great book! Turns out, it's a series book! Will hunt for the next book soon!

25TH DECEMBER 2012
Going to Colmar. I honestly have never heard of Colmar all my life, not until a few months ago.
My mum told me about it & I was ecstatic when I first heard about it. A french themed location in Malaysia, with halal food, malay communication, inexpensive currency.
Yup, I had pretty high hopes for this.

wore flip flops cause I would wanna fold my legs around when on the coach
oh and just a little disclaimer, I this minnie mouse top you see, I pretty much live in it throughout this trip.
Thus, you'll see a number of repetitions here and there.
At the Colmar Hotel! I was excited to be there cause they said that Colmar was cold. After being in summer KL for 3 days, this was good. It wasn't crazily cold though. A little warmer than expected. But its super cold on rainy days.

 love the bed.

Such a fairytale-ish bed! Of course I had to pretentiously be a happy princess. I imagined Taylor Swift

 family portraitss~

We then went out to eat! I was starvingg
We ate at this place!

I had a Vietnamese pho go or isit bo? It's either pho or go. Mine was beef
what was this? I can't remember. I think it was Tom Yum. Kinda looks like mee rebus huh?
The food was so-so. It was raining and the breeze was cold so anything warm felt good in the tummy!
Though I do remember the service being super duper slowwww. We were coming up with a theory of how they only had 10 bowls and we had to wait till the other customers finished eating their meal, not that there were many to begin with...
Had a little walk around the place. I'm gonna be honest here, I wasn't quite impressed with the place. Though it is pretty, but it's kinda small. Sayyyy.....the length of applied science school in TP.

I went back to the hotel room to put on a pair of snuggleh socks and my old boots which I got from...I can't remember where..But I know it was from my Europe trip in 2009. I think it was from either Italy or Swiss
 cheers to toasty warm feet!
also cause we were only staying for a night, we had to make use of the rest of the time to tour the place.
Colmar Tropicale itself, there isn't much stuff. We had to take this bus sorta thing to the other places.
The other places was the Japanese village. It was like a mini-trekking up the mountain kinda thing. It was nothing but I liked it. The scenery and weather was nice.
I was surprised that I did not felt that cold. I'm usually hyper-sensitive to cold places.
cold hands, cold feet, bluish nails, flu....oh you know, all that good stuff.

Back from the Japanese Village. Picture time!

Gotta love all those castle looking buildings. For a fairytale person like me, I loved it.
 This is definitely ahh-mazingg!
Just a little sidenote, I used alot of saturation and color-tone. So the photos, are little more vibrant and more to the pink-ish toned looking.

pretty huh?

I used to watch this funny malay drama where Mastura acted as a teen gangster, and they used a leaf to cover her face. A FREAKING BANANA LEAF! HAHAHA! Cracks me and my mum up all the time. And the leaf kept moving downwards revealing the face...
I imagined Taylor Swift here. But wait, it's me!

Cause I did some research before hand so I knew there were swans somewhere. At the entrance, there were staircases that goes down to this mini lake. It's where the swans are.
Technically only 4 swans. 2 white 2 black.
 They were very hungry swans

The black ones were really noisy. & they kinda remind me of the mask man from The Saw. Just the beak.
The face of a hungry swan. Remember that. Survival tip 101.

The giant christmas tree! It was actually Christmas that day! They had a mini parade where all the workers danced to gangnam style. I am not kidding. I have video of it. How did that get all the way to the Colmar Mountains..?

We then had our dinner at this restaurant. (btw caught a moment of this couple)

The food was nice but the portion was disappointingly small

I then had my first caricature done ever! Will show it sometime if I remember.
Oh & we took some pizza back to the hotel cause we weren't full yet.

26TH DECEMBER 2012
Had the breakfast buffet. The food was hmmm s'okay...
bread was hard. Fed it to the swans and I have a video of that.
We then went up a tower where we got a pretty spectacular view of Colmar.
This was the the length of Colmar Tropicale. But it's so pretty

It's like a 360 kinda tower. The other sides were the rural areas

I think this is a really nice 'thinking' shot of my mum. I should tag her on facebook.

I felt very cowboy-ish that day
my mum and I collected pinecones!
I always think about Elle's cat when I think of pinecone.

We were already packed up. After that we went back to KL » Puduraya and took a coach to Genting from there.

Okay so that's Day 1 to Day 5!
That itself has too many photos. I had to really filter out alot of photos. I might post everything up on Flikr.

Next post will be from Genting to Cameron!
